There is hardly any other city that has managed to adhere to its historic character as well as the Swiss capital of Berne. The Old City of Berne features on the UNESCO World Heritage List. With its 6 km of arcades, the so-called “Lauben”, it is home to one of the longest weatherproof shopping promenades in Europe.
